In the very same boat myself - have a trip to UK planned for next month and off to Spain/France in August. Insurance provider I used for a trip in 2018 seems no longer to be about. So am on the lookout for another that will cover bike trips abroad.

I think motorcycle use over 150cc, whether your own or a rental, is included in ‘option 3’ but check for yourselves
Annual policy is usually cheaper than several shorter trip ones. Plus you don’t have to start the process every time you’re going away

Do you buy special insurance to drive a car abroad? Your regular bike insurance with foreign travel is sufficient with normal holiday insurance. The over 125cc provision is to discourage non bike users from hiring machines that they can't handle whilst pissed and sunburnt. And I am not just making this up, a friend (the V100 rider), who has normal annual insurance had a bad crash in France and his insurers were not concerned about his mode of transport (his choice) and Bennetts sorted the bike and hire car etc.

I have a couple of older bikes that are hard to insure for trips due to their age. ( one being an 1978 R80/7 )
I went with the Nationwide Current account that costs £13/month and it covers all ages of bike.
Not sure this is relevant to your bike, but may be worth knowing for others.

Does VHI travel insurance not cover this? Rented a bike couple of years ago and they said they would cover me if i had an off?
In recent years i have found Allianz to be the most straightforward to deal with.
I've used this company recently for a couple of trips to the USA.
The adventure plus pack covers you off road with a guide for a max of 7 days.
I'm not sure what level of cover you get with the other packages.
Can't comment on their service as I've not had to claim with them.

Insurance companies make a very clear distinction between incidental and non incidental activities. If you rent a bike for a day whilst on holidays, that's an incidental activity and is covered in most standard travel insurance packages (once the activity is listed)
If you go on a holiday where biking is the main purpose of the trip, then this is a non incidental activity and is not covered in your typical holiday insurance package. Despite this always being clearly outlined in the small print, not many folk are aware of this.

This looks to be a UK based provider,are you resident in the UK or in the Republic of Ireland?I've used this company recently for a couple of trips to the USA.

I mention Allianz (Ireland) as I make it clear that we're touring on a large capacity motorcycle. And I still check the small print to be sure!

Well in the end I procured travel insurance for upcoming bike trip with Cornmarket. They were very helpful over the phone and I was happy with the price too. For those on this side of the water looking for travel insurance the can be contacted on 01 4206723.
This was for health/repatriation for me in the event of something untoward happening while I was riding the bike. Your regular bike insurance should cover your bike for repair/repatriation while riding abroad (Europe and UK at least) for a limited period of time.
You might like to caveat this next bit, just in case someone might get the idea that their conventional Motor policy covers all sorts of things which it doesn’t.
Indeed, I used the word 'should' so that folks would examine the small print of their particular policy and verify what, if any, level of cover applies before they ride abroad.
