Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind here. I'm travelling the UK with my mate for the next 2 weeks, currently in Cornwall and planning on crossing to Scotland.

But I'm having an issue with my 2009 1200GS (probably my own doing 🫣). The front rubber boot between the engine and driveshaft housing has popped out of the driveshaft housing. The plastic ring is completely out and oriented forward.

We're going to a mate tomorrow near Treen where we can work on the bike and reseat it, but I'm suspecting the plastic ring might be nackered by the driveshaft. Leaving it open for 2 weeks is not a good idea I'm afraid.

Is there anyone in the area that might have a replacement boot available or even just the plastic ring that sits on the inside? If needed my mate could come pick it up.

Any advice on parts is appreciated!
Thanks!

I had this happen on my 2009 GSA but I managed to get the plastic ring inside the rubber then fit it back into the swing arm casting. Hopefully yours will be the same simple fix.

Hi, I’ve just changed the front boot on my R1200GSA. I actually kept the plastic ring (as you do), the only issue is I’m in North East Scotland. I got the new boot and ring direct from my local BMW dealer for £41.90 and it arrived next day…. Not sure if this is any help to you.

You’re more than welcome to the plastic piece if you have an address in the U.K. I could send it to.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the replies and offers! We got brave and took the swingarm off on the camping site 😅. (I would share some pictures but the forum doesn't accept google photos links ) The plastic ring was not perfect anymore, but decent enough. Got it back together and its holding after a small testdrive. Not too confident, but we're going nearly past sherlock tomorrow so we're gonna see if we can pick up a spare one. We got it off and on again in about 1,5-2hours, so we know it is a fairly quick fix if needed.

Thanks everyone!
Cheers!
