Trekker 46lt Top box

Hello.
I'm looking for some advice on buying a top box.I was thinking of buying a 46lt trekker top box or similar and one of the main factors would be to fit 2 helmets in.Some of the sites sate you can fit 2 helmets in others don't and one showed a picture of a helmet in the box but it didn't look to me like you could fit 2.Does anyone have one of these box's that could say one way or the other and whats the best plate to use.

Trekker 46 will not take 2 full face helmets - you need the Trekker 52 or do as I did and buy the cheaper Kappa version direct from Italy.
Do a search and you will find the thread with pictures.

I have the 52I version which takes 2 lids comfortably, but I can tell there's no chance of them fitting in the 46I version. I picked it up from Amazon for £170 including delivery. It came from Italy and arrived in a couple of days.

You can get the mounting lugs latch block and rubber buffers as a kit to fit to your own metal plate.

I would go with the givi plate as advised further up. It replaces the oem rack and sits the box lower. More stable and looks better imho

Also depends on the helmet. I could get two Arai Condors in my Givi 46l box, but one Arai and a Schuberth S1 wouldn't fit.

Very true, but many Givi plates are plastic and have to be bolted down so are slow to fit/remove. Even with numerous fasteners they can flex alarmingly when used. An alloy plate can be fixed to the bike with Dzus fasteners. Making it quick to fit and remove and the fasteners are covered by the box when its locked on. If DIY = bodge (as it does for many) you can buy laser cut alloy plates.

Still sounds like a bodge to me. The SR689 isn't designed to be removed it replaces the OEM rack and passenger handles and mounts the box lower so it doesn't look perched up high like an afterthought. In my case I rarely remove the top box as I commute daily and need to carry "stuff".

The SR689 still needs an adaptor plate and it looks home made.
Givi offer Monokey plates in laser cut aluminium sheet, cast aluminium or bendy floppy plastic. Buyers choice. The lovely M9 tubular steel version is no longer available.

I'm using my new Givi Trekker TRK52 box on a used SR689 mounting, but it doesn't seem to lock down tightly - I've changed the little round rubber mounting things that's not made any difference. The box rattles when I put the bike on the centre stand.
Anyone else had this problem ?
I'm thinking of getting the SRA692 mounting kit instead, though I need to be 100% that will fix the problem.
Any experience of this ?

Some pictures of the alloy givi plate on my 2007 GSA with a Kappa 46ltr KGR46 mounted on it.......very securely. (same dimensions as the Trekker 46 ltr box)

Thanks - I think I'll order the alloy plate from Italy (cheaper than UK) though the plate for the GS is different from the GSA plate.

I've ordered the alloy plate now, should arrive at the end of the week.

Taking another close look at the Trekker 52 box, I'm thinking that the plastic used to construct the box is thinner than on the Givi Maxia box & that could be why the box flexes on the mounting plate. I've also got a Givi mount on my 1150GS and the Trekker flexes on that mount too.

It's not that the box is insecure, but I'd prefer it to sit more tightly.

I use the SR689 and ive had no problems with it at all. Bought it from a company in Spain but cant remember who !! It was around £60 delivered. I have a GS grabhandle for use with the SRA692 if anyone is going to fit a Givi box to their GSA.
