Trekker width compared to Vario

I've got 2 Givi Trekker panniers (not the Outback) and am thinking of buying the fitting kit to put them on my 2016 GS.
I'm put off by how far the pannier will stick out on the exhaust side. If you have these on your bike do they get in the way of filtering? Is the bike wider at the back than the handlebars?
Or should I sell the Givis and buy Varios?

Isn’t the one for the exhaust side narrower to compensate?
Having had both aluminium and vario I would choose aluminium. Don’t rate varios at all.

Thanks GoldTop but the Givi Trekkers are both the same size. They are plastic as well. It's the Trekker Outbacks that are aluminium. Thanks anyway.

I've got the Givi Trekker 33 (offside), 46 (nearside) and 52 (top) boxes for my R1200GS Adventure. I'm also using the Givi Rack Bars, not the BMW standard fit.

The Givi Rack Bars are appealing to me because they are quick release (with security spanner) and can be taken off easily and stored.

Here are the pictures. The 46 litre pannier sticks out about 1 Inch further on the nearside, compared to the 33 litre pannier on the offside.

So it's not perfectly symmetrical.

I went on a 4 day mini-tour up to hardknott pass and I didn't have any issues filtering.

The boxes are about as wide as the handlebars. So you have some gauge measurement before you go piling in.

The main restrictions are temporary narrow lanes on a motorway or contraflow. Then you're fooked.

But I like to remove the quick-release Givi bars and mix and match my top box.

I use the exact same boxes on my Bandit 1250 Street Fighter (although in this application I have two 33 Litre boxes either side and the mega 52 litre box on top), when I drag it's arse out to go touring.

Thanks everyone and thanks Warlord your photos have convinced me to keep the Givis. Especially as I had them on a 1250 FA before this!
