Hi folks , I've recently acquired a 2017 R1200RS. I wish to fit a trickle charger and on removing the battery cover there appears to be a positive jump lead connecter just to the right of the battery. Would I be right to assume the charger positive lead can be connected to this ?
It's a lovely bike by the way, although a 17" front tyre takes a bit of getting used to again.

Yes, there should be a red cap that pulls off exposing a screw to attach your lead.

I had a R1200RS for over 8 years. The front tyre does wear unevenly due to the bike's unusual geometry. The wheelbase is a little longer than most bikes. Do you know the mileage on the tyre? I tended to change them fairly early, around the 6-7000 mile mark with some tread depth left. It could be this uneven wear that makes the bike feel odd.

Thanks Wessie. Front tyre doesn't particularly feel odd, I'm just not used to stuff turning in that quick.

As Wessie says how old is that front tyre and what's the profile like as it's probably dual compound so might have a bit of a triangular profile. Again as he says that positive post is fine and saves having to remove the battery, just disconnect the negative 1st then reconnect it last. I've used an Optimate 4 since 2015 on 4 BMWs now and have a flying SAE lead connected to that post and the battery's negative lead. It doubles up if I need to use my heated vest (if yiu have one it's a good idea to have the SAE lead on the same side of the bike as the lead is on your vest/jacket so you can connect it before getting on the bike. I also carry an airman pump and use the lead for that too as it'll normally trip the canbus if you plug a mini compressor onto the bike's socket. If yiu don't already have an Airman etc there's loads of rechargeable options available now for not much money. Welcome to the RS world (y)

Thanks for that.
