Trickle Charger

I am off to Afghanistan in Feb for 6 months and the wife is asking what I want for Xmas.
I have a 2005 1150GSA and request info on the best charger to buy for this bike, or am I better disconnecting the batery

I have found with classic cars in the past, even if the battery is disconnected the battery still goes flat over a period of months. I use an Optimate and aan Accumen Platignum (one that was offered as a reward for joining subscibing to TWO Mag last year I think), they both do a good job and I use them all winter on cars we don't use in winter and batteries are fine. I can recommend either one, but the Accumen one does more if you need to bring one back from quite a flat state.
