hi-sorry if this is a bit obvious, but im just starting out on spannering so bought a 1200gs as i thought there would be plenty of opportunities to learn as things inevitably went wrong

anyhow-what gives? the analogue speedo works fine but the trip computer speedo is stuck on 28mph all the time (and the fuel consumption calculator is therefore also stuck on 51mpg). no biggie. just a bit annoying, and a good opportunity to learn a bit about how the bike works :D

its an 2006 servo abs model, so,as far as i can make out, the speed sensor is the same as the abs sensor...but why would the analogue speedo work without fault whilst the trip computer speedo didnt work at all? (all other functions of trip computer, including estimated range, seem to work ok). and if the circuit to the abs sensor was disrupted, or the abs sensor itself was knackered, wouldnt this cause the abs to fail as well? fault finding sequences would really help here.

cheers in advance

Do you mean the average speed display is a steady 28mph ? If so, zero it, & start again. Try the same thing for the fuel consumption.

probably. :blast what a dolt. now i know why an owners manual might come in handy...anyone got a copy?!

Owners manuals can be downloaded from the Scandinavian BMW web site(in English). Can't remember the URL but you'll find it on here somewhere. You can also get workshop manuals and parts books but those are either a good mate or eBay. Not seen a download recently.

Press the BC button until the Average speed is on display, & hold the button down until it "goes to zero". Same with the MPG display.
