Great write-up. Good decison to turn around when injured, you didn't miss much.

My doctor was marvellous when I explained I was often miles away from roads, and gave me a prescription for 100!! co-codamol tablets each with 30mg of codine for emergency pain control.

I also always carry Voltarol (non-steroidal anti inflamatory cream) but if you don't have it you can make up something similar by finely crushing ibuprufen and mixing with a face cream.

I also got caught in a sandstorm and the paint on the right fork has been worn off.

Thanks Tim. To be honest it was the force of the wind that put the sh*ts up me! I had a plentiful supply of Paracetamol ....... but got ripped off for the anti-inflamatory pills in Laäyoune.

Still toying with the idea of going back to finish what I started ...... the Carnet is still valid till next March. We'll have to see.

Really enjoyed that. Thanks for the link. :thumb2

What a super write up - descriptive and entertaining. You obviously have a talent for writing this stuff - maybe you should write a few travel guides because that was as interesting as any of the bike books I have read. gave a real taste for an area i want to go to. Thanks :thumb2

I'd gladly go back to Western Sahara as far as Dahkla which is about 250 miles further south than Boujdour, but beyond that it's a rapidly diminishing return. The more remote parts of Mauri might be fun on a lighter bike with support, but solo on a GS you have to keep to the tarmac.
