Hi I’m looking for recommendations of working with media from my iPhone, drone & action camera to make trip report/journal mostly for our own viewing but also to share with family and friends.

I’m not looking to be professional but I would like add pictures & videos, add titles and add a bit of a write up. Perhaps do one each day say spending 30 minutes at the end of each day.

thanks in advance.

My folks used to use 'Polarsteps' for motorhome trips and it seemed to work ok. You can keep who can see your posts private if you wish. Not sure if you can upload video to it but I suspect so. Free to boot I think too (or was when they were using it, up to ~2 years ago). Recipients can comment and send messages etc although I suspect you could disable that if you preferred.

If you have an iPad or I guess some other ‘Apple thing’, then try Journal.

It’s not something I’ve used but just tapping around I did a test and (lacking any skills at all) typed in it, inserted a video and a picture. I also saved it to iCloud. You’ll have to trust me that the video of Spa race track does run like a film.

It also displayed on a map, where the video was shot. I assume it uses GPS location ‘stuff’ embedded in the video to do this.

I might take up using it instead on my ‘little black book’.

I then did a test inserting a second picture of the pint, alongside the picture of a gas coupling. This too displayed on the map:

I haven’t tapped around enough to work out to how to share a ‘Journal.

Anyway, it seems to work….. so far!

Disappointingly, there seems to be no (easy) way of sharing a ‘Journal’, which renders it somewhat pointless, other than for personal use.

Google is suggesting an app called: ‘Day one’ for journal type jottings. I am sure there are more.

PS I have looked at ‘Day one’ which costs £1 a week. It certainly seems (from a couple of You Tube videos) pretty powerful.

Thank you Wapping & Ronnie for all of your help, greatly appreciated. I’ve tried PolarSteps, what do you think?
