Triple ...........

Chris has recently sprayed some parts for my bike to - FANTASTIC - very clever bloke - :bow:bow

Yes .... there are plenty of folk who come on here and 'try and sell their wares' .... and Chris isn't one of them. And to boot - his work is very good. So a well deserved plug .... :D

Are you sure that chap was in a Triumph Stag and not a golden chariot???

I offered to pay him for his time but he declined, then I offered to at least treat him to a bottle of something by way of saying thank you, once again he declined. He said that it was lovely to actually have to use his problem solving skills rather than teaching the theory of electronics in a classroom.

A win win for both of us!

I've just got two small jobs to do before Triple is 100% finished, probably about 6 hours work. Once I've completed them I'll take it up the road, take a few nice photos and post my final bit of the build report. I'll be sad that it's finished if I'm honest!

If these things are ever truly finished.

That is a very good point, there are several components which may get modified / replaced at a later date. An example is the rear calliper mounting arm, we discussed several possibilities for modification or bespoke replacement as it's less than beautiful. However in an attempt to keep a leash on the already erupting budget we decided to refinish the original one and possibly go down the bespoke route at a later date!

And finally ..........

It's been a little while since I posted an update so here it is ....

As you may remember, I'd fabricated the seat, I got that passive plated and painted the underside gloss black as it'll be partially visible when fitted to the bike. Paul and I had a ride over to Southend to a friend of mine that owns Hoods County Customs http://hoodsgaloreuk.co.uk to get it upholstered ...... And what a splendid job he did too!

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14236714742" title="IMG_6545 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5473/14236714742_4272846b38_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_6545"></a>

With the seat back it was now just a case of finishing the wiring loom and hiding it all away. Then final checks and top up of fluids ....

This is what's left of the original loom! :eek

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14238961685" title="IMG_6501 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2915/14238961685_653f28b744_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_6501"></a>

Time for a drink .....

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14238964055" title="IMG_6536 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2939/14238964055_a1e089fa9c_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_6536"></a>

I created a new mid point earth half way up the main frame spur ...... taking the paint off wasn't pleasant!

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14215822196" title="IMG_6538 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5037/14215822196_6d941c2412_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_6538"></a>

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14215816266" title="IMG_6540 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5484/14215816266_727cabbed6_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="IMG_6540"></a>

Because the tank has been lowered by 18mm it's standard fuel tap was a little close to the air filter pods for comfort so I fabricated a new outlet. The carbs are now fed by an inline fuel tap

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14215827646" title="IMG_6641 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5576/14215827646_8fbff10867_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_6641"></a>

Once bolted up and running, Paul came down for a play and to ride it up the yard for the first time!

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14238695854" title="IMG_6646 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5526/14238695854_d1951527b2_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_6646"></a>

The only job left was to fabricate the number plate holder, mount the number plate and to fit a couple of number plate lights.

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14052390317" title="IMG_6653 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5118/14052390317_4590283577_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="IMG_6653"></a>

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14259150043" title="IMG_6655 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5231/14259150043_2e65855595_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="IMG_6655"></a>

At this point I got my finger bitten by the bastard bike!....... :D

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/29879887@N02/14235683691" title="IMG_6650 by tunneruk, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2935/14235683691_f8422a9c3b_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_6650"></a>

And that's the bike finished, aside from running like an absolute dog and occasionally pissing fuel everywhere of course!

Paul and I took Triple up for its MOT yesterday up at a bike shop local to us. I'm pleased to say it passed :clap Mark at Bowen Moto in Chatham is going to fully rebuild the carbs and jet them to suit the new setup. Before the bike went into the van I took a few nice photos of the finished product.

Enjoy :thumb

Quality workmanship there, the owner must be chuffed. Even the much maligned bars now look right and complete the look of.the bike.

Great workmanship there, well done...:thumb2

A before and after together would be good now...

Are you going to run a page on the RC30 next... ;)

Well I don't have a photo at the beginning but I do have a photo of an identical bike kindly posted earlier in the thread by Packer .... So ...

We'll have to see about the RC30 ............. ;)

I think it's the detailing that's particularly impressive - some of those close-ups really show how much care has gone into every detail. That's the difference between a good bike and a great bike.

Bravo! :clap

Can't wait for the next one.

Very impressive. I like the way the that the entire proportion of the bike has changed. It started as a big bike with a big lump of black engine. It now looks like a huge grey engine with a few cycle parts appended to it. I particularly appreciate the way that the back wheel almost appears to be unconnected to the rest of the bike, just floating in the general vicinity of an engine. Brilliant, that will be an attention grabber for sure.

My preference for my home is minimalist, simple and no clutter. The same applies to this bike.

Here's a video slideshow that I've just knocked up ....
