This is a tale of woe for me but might be a result for someone with time and space. Went to an Iconic classic car auction last September and came away with this Stag. Wanted one since 17 but my circumstances mean I shouldn't have been buying anything as I need to put money towards buying a house (read between the lines) where I want to live in home town it highly unlikely I will find something with a garage if I can even afford anything round here.
Anyway to the car, it's carmine red, showing 60k but speedo doesn't work, I am told by the previous I met at the auction it's right. I am the 4th owner, it's had lots of work including gearbox and overdrive rebuild a few years ago. Stag owners club tell me it's the 24th car on the last production run at the factory. It's in generally good condition, solid, I've done a few jobs , replaced coolant, oil and filters Inc a flush, plugs. It's runs, stops and starts easy, new wheels and tyres, sits well on the road, has a new soft top and comes with hardtop. As with all classics it needs work , it has micro blistering in the paint and although it doesn't overheat it seems to be using water, I haven't got to the bottom of that. It's currently in specialist storage in south Warwickshire since Oct sat with £1m Ferrari's and McLarens where they start and run every month. I am selling as a project, the main woe is the fact I really wanted to save this car but now cannot , I also paid £10k for it (invoice available) and I'm going to take a hell of a hit. It's tax and MOT exempt and £110 to insure including breakdown! So I'll start at £5000 but open to offers including possible PX on a bike.

Making a pigs ear of the photos as usual, the rusty coolant pipe and another which feeds the heater matrix were both replaced with stainless versions when I replaced the coolant,

Hi Big Den

Biggest issue with those was a woefully undersized radiator hence the overheating issue.
That is what was thought back in the 80s, but once I'd cleared out all casting sand out of the cooling chambers, and there was a lot, in the one that I had, I never had overheating issues again, and I had the standard 3-core radiator. I reported my findings to the Stag Owners Club and it turned out a lot of other members had found casting sand in theirs.

If only it was an "Auto" ( for my disability not my preference) I'd be after that.
I'm parting with my modern classic
Anyway good luck with the sale
