I purchased this bike in April 2016 with 27 miles on the clock. I saw it in the window of a Subaru dealer who had bizarrely taken it in part exchange. The previous owner had ordered and spec’d it up ahead of taking their bike test but didn’t end up passing and never collected the bike from triumph. The Subaru dealer collected it directly from the Triumph dealership.

I’ve not ridden it much at all over the past 4 years so I think it’s the right decision to sell. I’ve kept the bike covered in a dry garage. It rides really well and is in really great condition. There is one paint scratch to the belly pan (pictured) but it’s otherwise unmarked and always receives compliments.

£5,500.00

Thanks, I’ve really been in 2 minds whether to sell.

Some useful stats about these bikes;

- 106 horsepower, so quite punchy
- 168kg dry up to 183kg wet weight - not a heavyweight, very manageable for all
- 820mm seat height, really confidence inspiring for most people
- 17.4 litre \ 3.83 gallon fuel tank - at an average of 51.4mpg giving a safe range of c. 150 miles.

I've also found the original Triumph owner folder, service book, owners manual, unused second key and a few other bits of paperwork. I have all of the service invoices and a couple of nice Street Triple RX postcards that were produced to mark this special edition. All will be included in the sale.

Not advertised elsewhere.

Price drop to £5,250 if that helps tickle any buyers interest.

A Sunday / weekend bump.

I’m not looking forward to wider advertising because of all the bad stories that surround private motorbike sales. Any tips for safe private sales srategies?

I’ve sold 3 biles before. 1 to a forum member and 2 to local friends.

You need to widen the audience, which means Autotrader/Ebay/Facebook/MCN. I've had good results using facebook and quite easy to spot the scammers (they will ask generic questions). Even better, it cost me nothing. Both bikes I sold on Facebook sold within a week, but they were priced sensibly.

Car and Classic is free to advertise at a set price. https://www.carandclassic.com/cat/15/ There are international buyers on there, last year I sold a Honda that went to the USA.

As for safe selling, if you're not happy about any aspect of a potential purchaser, don't do it. Payment by bank transfer. Or cash, but only if you're really sure you can spot fake banknotes.

I just don’t want potential thieves knowing I e got bikes/s on the property.

Also, what is the general consensus regarding test rides? Absolute no no unless full payment in hand I would assume?

This is still for sale - an amazing bike, low mileage with lots of factory fitted options.

Deffo no test ride unless money changed hands: a genuine buyer will not quibble over that.
However, as said above, cash only if you can confidently spot a handful of fakes.
BACS: there is a scam where the "buyer" has an app that will show the money has gone from their account, in an attempt to get you to let the bike go. DO NOT hand anything over until you see the transaction in your account. Its a known scam.
If you stipulate in any ad, payment by BACS including any test rides, they know where they stand. And keep all paperwork and spare keys out of the way until the deal is done except for showing them to prove history etc.
Have a friend with you in case you have to go into the house and leave the bike. Personally, I'd also have my locks on it.
Might sound over the top but better safe than sorry.
Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs.
Oh yeah make a note of reg details of vehicles they come in.
