AVG has detected trojan horse crypt3.asw when downloading a Flash Player update.

I hit the Remove button but AVG has failed with the message "Cannot be remove the data is invalid"

What does this mean? Have I still got the virus and how do I get rid of it?

Also, Flash Player keeps prompting me to update it and due to this problem I keep hitting the No button, would Adobe be aware of this issue?

Thanks in advance to the IT Crowd:thumb

Malwarebytes is a great program to run along side an anti virus program. If you are sticking with the free one, then you will need to periodically download the new definition and run it. It is very good at picking up extra programs which are on you computer, but not good.

Just ensure you keep an eye on the install to keep it the free one.

Definitely recommended.

You will be installing the free edition on you computer, so yes there will be a download.

The file should be called mbam-setup-2.0.0.1000.exe from http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/

You don't need to register or pay for the more premium product (though I don't believe it is expensive, and does have auto updates etc)

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks everyone.

I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran that, it found a shedload of nasty files PUPs??? Got rid of them all and reran AVG, two more Trojans identified called Zbot, all deleted, ran another complete scan and not it comes up clean.

How does this shit get on your computer? I am careful with regard to what I download, do these files attach themselves to legit downloads in some way?

Anouther good program to have is a cpu monitor on the desktop so u can see if anything is happening behind the scenes if the computer is idle.
