I had some thick kevlar jeans shortened by the gentlemens tailors in Wolverhampton (yes, there is such a thing there!), not much help to you I know, but my point is you don't necessarily need a motorcycle clothing specialist.

as I have used them in the past. But recently called them and e mailed them re a quote to fix a tent. Their pissy attitude to a no response from my email has put me right off them. Besides, they have now proved to be 2x as expensive. It's a shame really as I have used them on 3 or 4 different occasions and their work is good, although it now seems expensive and too much effort for them to respond.
So avoid.

Try yellow pages for a local tailor or seamstress i.e. Bridal shop
I’ve used these guys to repair mountain bike and ski clothing on several occasions.
Goretex clothing.
The results have been outstanding... almost invisible!
Yes, maybe slightly more expensive than other places but they specialise in this kind of work.
Personally I would recommend them and use them again.

My mum, of sainted renown and a former seamstress now in her 80’s, kindly agreed to shorten mine. I don’t think she’ll be persuaded again. The tough but reasonably soft to the feel fabric very nearly broke her (very expensive) sewing machine and she had to do it by hand. I don’t think she was quite as happy as she maybe made out.
But that was because you were pacing up and down in your skiddies.....before you sold them on...lucky her I'd say...it'd be a deal worse now you don't have any......huffing and puffing while she did it surely?
