Trousers

Almost bought a pair of these yesterday, but thought i would check on here first to see if anyone else has got any and are they any good etc etc, one thing that concerns me is the leather (i fink it is leather) lowers on the legs, how do they cope with getting drenched and covered in mud and stuff

Have been trying to get and pair of last years style of Tuareg trousers to go with my jacket, but seem to be as rare as rocking horse do do

If anyone has a pair of taureg trousers that will fit my ample and expanding waist line 40 - 42 inch waist (honest)

will have to try and find something that will at least partly look decent and will match the jacket sort of

I have a pair of HG trousers (not these ones) that have the nubuck patches on the knees and the seat covered in it too. The trousers have remained waterproof even with this and I have never really noticed it getting any more damp than the rest of the garment. Don't worry about it.

I had a look at these a while back, the thing that put me off is that like the gsers uniform, they have waterproof breathable liners.......so in hot weather you cook and if you take them out and it rains you get soaked as well!!!
I conidered buying a pair of the HG summer trousrs ( less costly but stilll look OK) which are not waterpprof but have lots of ventilation, and using my old waterproof over trousers, which fold up real small for the tank bag,if it rains, at least then in the good weather there is no compromise on comfort...and yes I am a fair weather rider!!!

Have a pair of the Rallye pants.
Great for the summer with the lining out, but I find Hein Gericke own brand yellow pack linings are warm, but not very waterproof and breath like bin bags.

If you want waterproof, stretch for the Goretex stuff .. 1000km trip from Deutchland in the Rain proved it's worth the price.

One other thing.. Try the exact model of HG stuff you're buying.
I take XL in some of their stuff and XXXL in others!

Hi,

Bought the very same trousers (and jacket) earlier in the year. I've probably done about 4500 miles in them since, quite a lot of it in the rain. Did a 200 mile run back from Scotland in some of the worst weather i've ridden in for a good while. The trousers coped pretty well, keeping me nice and dry. They do have there problems though, when the waterproof lining is in it can ruck up and be a bit of a PITA (though not quite as bad as the jacket). The liner isn't exactly easy to put in if you get caught out in the rain (unless you don't mind getting your trousers off at the side of the road), so you either leave it in and boil if the weathers hot, or leave it out (and find somewhere to stash it) and get wet if it rains. It's not all bad though, they appear to be tough (not crash tested yet) and have some good features. Large pocket (waterproof) on one thigh and four other pockets (not waterproof). They have a bit of adjustment around the waist, and have long zips up the leg so getting boots on and off is easy. There warm enough for three season riding, and i've had no problems getting them soaked and letting them dry off. Can't answer the dirt question as i've not been brave enough to go offroad (yet).
