Please does anyone know Oliver Newby-Robson (goes by the name of HDNumber8 on ebay) in the Stilton, Cambs area?

If so please can you pass a message on?

Oliver bought an 1150 final drive from me on 10 Jan this year (£125 plus £15p&p). It arrived with one of the lugs for the rear mudguard broken off and a few scratches, so as soon as he contacted me and sent some photos I refunded him in full including the postage charge.

Time passed by and the Post Office refused to refund me for the FD as they said the packing was a bit marginal - to be completely honest they had a point there.

I contacted Oliver and asked if he wanted it at a reduced price and he said no, he was happy to send it back and I agreed to pay his postage costs. This was on 04 March and since then I've heard nothing from him despite repeatedly emailing him.

Maybe he's taking a long holiday and hasn't seen my emails while he's away....

Anyway the point is that after I've refunded him, its my FD, and I'd like it back so if anyone knows Oliver maybe you can pass that message on. Thank you.

Alternatively if there are any UKGSERs in the Stilton area of Cambridgeshire who'd like a cheap FD with a mudguard mounting lug broken off, then get in touch with me. I'll PM you his address so you can pop round for a chat with the rascal and you can Paypal me £50 after you've collected it from him.

Yes - I have been dealing for years and never had a problem like this before. The item I sent arrived damaged. It wasn't his fault so the honourable thing to do was to refund him. I had thought that he'd show me the same courtesy.

Thank you. I expect it's him. I've got his full address but the main problem is that I'm in Bath and he's in Cambridgshire, so its not really worth the cost of my fuel and time to go and have a chat with him.
 
2 minutes ago Oliver has just emailed me offering to send it back next week.

I'll post another comment here when it arrives.
 
He's "had a rough few weeks" and was very apologetic when he emailed me last night.

So long as my FD comes back next week I have no malice towards him now.


However, from next week it'll be back on sale so if anyone fancies a cheap FD with a lug broken off then get in touch....
 
Update.
The FD came back a few weeks ago, and because I was a bit hacked off with the whole thing, it stayed on a shelf unopened until yesterday.

When I opened the box yesterday morning to check it over before relisting it on Ebay, I was annoyed to find that its not my FD at all.

For starters its covered in mud and grease, whereas mine (in the photos that he sent me to say that the mounting lug had broken off) was clean. Also the filler plug is 3/4 unscrewed which is a bit suspicious on a part he says he decided not to use as soon as he saw. Finally the UJ is not attached but is loose in the packaging. Its also knackered. Mine was in good condition and still attached to the FD.

I strongly suspect that he's fitted mine and returned his old one. The one he's sent back does have the same mounting lug broken off - you can see where he's hit it with a hammer, three times on the unpainted side and once on the black side.

Needless to say he's not answering my emails or the phone number I have for him.

My point is not to ask for sympathy, just to say that if you ever see or hear anything of him, please beware of what he says and do not trust him. He name is Oliver Newby Robson, and his Ebay name is HDNumber8.

And Oliver, if you ever read this - Remember, I know where you live.

If we all do that, [facebookers] maybe, just maybe he will do the honourable thing and pay for the one he bought AND refund the postage on the piece of shit he returned to you.
