Re: CrashBars Half Price

Well Half the TT price and just as good quality and very similar in design.

They look painted not stainless steel - which is the USP of the TT ones. I have had mine on for 3000 miles and they're as good as new unlike my 'painted' H&B ones, which started chipping straight away. IMHO the TT ones are brillinat quality and have a superior finish to any of the others. The problem is the pathetic customer-service or lack off that TTuk have.

You pays your money you makes your choice.

Crash Bars

Yes they are painted. however to a very high standard, the difference to the H&B ones is I've been told they are made from mild steel, these are Chromoly steel.

Pictures

I have some more pictures coming from the manufacturer and will post them as soon as they arrive.

Nippy Normans/H&B

are these ones better than nippy normans

Just a couple of items, they are both very similar, NN sell the Hepco and Becker ones at £135. Someone from the forum said they were made from Mild Steel, I can't confirm that.

The SW Motech ones I supply are Chromoly steel and I sell them for £98.99 inc P&P

for your information TT are Stainless Steel however they are £197 +

There's the choice

Caveman,

Can you remove the valve covers without removing the bars? I understand that some have problems with the HB bars, especially where a dealer services the bike.

I'm looking at a new R1200GS, and have been thinking about whether I need them for my 100% road riding, and which ones would be best. Hence question above is trawled from others' posts, not my own experience.

Head Covers

Yes the head covers can come off without removing the bars, without any problems

Valve covers come off without problems with H+B bars too. This may not have been the case on older models, hence the confusion.

With regard to the question of the material H+B bars are made from - whatever it is, it's strong enough to resist several drops onto tarmac and dirt without any damage other than the paint scraping off. They did start to rust where the paint had scraped though.
