im emigrating to oz next january, ive been looking at the cost of gps over there and its seems a lot more expensive compared to the uk.

i currently use a pda in the uk, but want to change to a dedicated system when i get to oz, so was looking at a tomtom rider.

im thinking of buying the unit here then buying the oz maps, total about £500 which works out just a bit more than buying the tt rider in oz with only oz maps.

but does the rider have a built in basemap like garmins, would doing this cause a problem in the way the unit functions?

or is there another unit that ive overlooked?

if it dont work out in oz i can still come back to blighty and use the gps here :thumb

My understanding is that TTR's do not have a base map and that all the units are the same regardless from which country the unit is purchased. It's only the SD card that makes them different :thumb
