TT TWIN HEADLIGHTS FOR 1100GS

Hi there, from Australia. I have the opportunity to purchase a Touratech twin headlight setup for what seems to be a very reasonable price. It runs two 55/60 h4 halogen bulbs, two low beam and two high beam.

I am after any feedback that I can get about this item Is it any good? What is the light throw like? Does it place undue strain on the wiring? Anything.

Any input will be gratefully accepted.

DON'T put 55/60Watts in there! They'll melt... (plastic reflectors) 35W is acctually recommended by make.

Twin headlights: they're lighter, for more "enduro" stuff, but with the 2x35Watts they make lighting some 10-15% better, not more compared to stock light for my eye.

People say Honda CB400 (metal) reflectors fit in there that you can get cheap from some bike wreckege, so with these you can use 2x55 or even 2x100W bulbs, but you need to put new wiring for a longer term usage. Stock wiring is for some 75W or so on 1100s, not much more.

Don't bother with the touratech shite. ( thats why they're cheap )

stick a 130/80 blue philips H4 and a relay in it .

or make up a back panel and do as above..

Just checked the TT cattledog. There is a version of these lights that take 2x55 watt bulbs and one that takes 2x35 watt bulbs, apparently.
The seller told me he has been running 100 watt bulbs with no ill affects.

Wunderlich also has lights that look the same as the TT one. These also run 2x55 watt bulbs.

Gecko will prove that you can't run bigger bulbs in a TT headlight without a price....

standard light is better i think....


get a light bar fitted if you want more light

There are two versions I ran mine with 55 no problem. However they are virtualy no better than the originals.

They do however look a lot better.

BTW if one is craked they are both craked as it is fact one piece of glass.

Summmry "a waste of money apart from looks"

Fit some extra lights for the same price

Crikey......Or aren`t we allowed to use that word anymore? Things are not looking good. Maybe the best thing to do is the relay option and/or some spotties.

A very nice freind of mine heard about my plight and acquired a different sent of TT twin headlamps which I now have fitted. They take H7 bulbs not H4's . I don't know what rating .....maybe I should check
You can see them in this picture - as opposed to the ones that I had before with plastic lenses and reflectors these , also from Touratech, and all metal and glass so they should be a bit better. Only thing is you have one lamp for high beam and one for dip - like on the 1150. They are OK at night but if you are really doing a lot of riding in the dark get some extra lights anyway because just about any headlamp can be improved with some HID spotlights along side.

I run 60/55w bulbs in the unit on my Kalahari 1100 and up to now have had no trouble....

Mind you,I don`t have my lights on in the daytime....

The lights are far better than the dangerous stock 1100 unit which is only just about good for 50mph at night.
