Bit of advice required, I've fitted some Tucano Muffs. The fitting instructions suggest that the stiff 'bars' should meet each other and be cable tied together. But I can't see anyway that would happen, due to the width of the GS's bars.

I've fitted them like this...

Is this correct? Do they need to meet in the middle?

Do you need to cable tie anything? I'm not using the muffs as waterproof shield, I only ride in dry weather :augie

So all for cold protection!

Thanks :thumb

That looks fine from the photos. The bars do not meet in the middle.

I use the elastic thread to wrap/tie the bars to the handlebars (you could I suppose cable ties).

Have a set on mine.
The straps only will meet on a bike with narrow bars. On the GS I bent them slightly and used the large cable ties to fasten the straps to the lines of the bars.
Mine came with two elastic lines with Velcro tabs on either end which I've wrapped around the nylon, looser part at the mirror base and around the clutch and brake master cylinders.
Stops the wind making them bellow out.
Mind you, those lines are not very secure. I nearly lost one while out on a run yesterday. Was able to grab it in time.
If you put too much tension in the lines, the Velcro can let go.
Might consider using a few more cable ties instead.
The muffs are a great job, though. Clocked up just under a hundred miles yesterday with temperatures around 7° and with the heated grips, hands were toasty.
Just allow a bit more time getting yours hands on and off the bars until you get used to them.

Dragging this thread up, been using them for a week or so now. In simple terms it's transformed winter riding, sheer pleasure riding around even with temp hovering around freezing.

Look the GS into London town last week, parked up at Q-Park Trafalgar. Left around 11:30PM, no issues riding back. But after 25 mins or so I flipped up my lid, just for a bit of air. Noticed I could see my breath, thought, oh must be cold? Flipped to outside temp on the computer, it was just 0.5!! Yet I did not even have the handle bar heaters on, my hands were fine. (with Summer gloves on!!)

Little chilly leaving for work today, but nice and sunny. Summer Gloves + Heated Grips + Muffs = Wonderfully warm hands.

Gone are the days of using thick winter gloves that take an age to heat up through the bars, can't feel sod all of clutch/throttle controls, yet finger tips still go numb.

So big, big thumbs up for these :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

If you think having muffs is a revelation for winter riding, just wait until you fit a shytebag.
