Its amazing how some people think that civil and public servants dont pay income tax.

And some of my friends even asked me "Do you pay for our pension?"....they believed that are pensions are free....

NO THEY ARE NOT. The pension levy does not add to my pension entitlements....IT IS A PAYCUT

As for secure employment.....my contract ends in February.....

This just shows what a hatchet job IBEC, the Press and the government have done on the Public sector.
Two weeks of the Press and IBEC crying about the public finance and all of a sudden the Gullible public forgot that it was the banks and developers that f***ed our economy and started to blame the public service..

For my own little corner of the public sector it I will say this....
I am a driver tester, 8 times a day I climb into a car with a driver of "unproven ability". Each time I am putting my life in their hands. I have lost count of the amount of times I have had to tell someone to Stop so as they do not hit a car, cyclist or motorcyclist. On several occasions I have had to pull handbrakes and use dual controls.

Do my job for a week and tell me i'm overpaid....I dare you....

rant over

well said..
The thing is I have been paying for my pension for the last 15 years and this year the government decided to impose the Pensions levy on us. Now im paying for two pensions but when and if I make it to retirement having had to clock up 40 years to get a full pension I will only get one pension. that is my work pension. I do not get the old age pension like all the people in the private sector. So I wonder whos pension am I paying for ..

Crazy rates of pay???? You are having a laugh!!!!! I clear less than €500 euro per week. My wife is also a civil servant and clears alot less than that. 3 Kids to educate clothe and pay a mortgage on an overpriced house caused by the boom of the bankers, developers and the C***TS in the Galway tent.
The bread line is loomimg for alot of public sector workers, if it is not already here, and quite frankly there is very little incentive to work in this country when you look at what you can get on the dole. Yes I feel sorry for all the people who have lost their jobs in the private sector but the public sector is now looking no more secure.
So 'Civil One' overpaid we are not. Certainly not to the extent that we could splash out on the price of your boxes!!:thumb

36 days holidays? More like 22!!
2 days shopping? Try none!
Uncertified sick days? 7 per year, the same as alot of other organisations!
10 days compassionate leave? Halve that!
RNLI? No chance, No time!
5 days leave for getting married? I think it is actually 3 (no more) and none for when you ditch her!!
Job for life?? Not anymore!!!!!!!

And as Steve says, we would love any of you to try our job for a day. You would all shit yourselves at what we have to contend with on a daily basis, especially for the money (or lack of) that we get.

Sheep to the slaughter

The government and developers are pissing themselves laughing. They have offloaded a crock of shit onto the taxpayer in the form of Nama, will privatise any gains it makes by means of the special purpose vehicle( SPV) introduced at the last minute, and have tranferred all the risks to the taxpayers!!!

In the mentime the spindoctors have had a field day setting the public and private sectors at each others throats to provide a smokescreen for the biggest public mugging in history.

I begrudge no man his wage, when are the workers of Ireland going to smell the coffee and give these "Free for All" party f**kwits what they really deserve??

We are indeed a defeated people, perhaps "Liz" will take it back if we apologise for all the damage we have done to our nation. It could'nt be any worse than dealing with the shameless domestic gobshites.

And for the record I work in the private sector.

Rant over :rob

We will (hopefully) give these F**kwits what they deserve when we are given the chance to do so in the next general election.

It is a disgrace that we have to wait til then as they won't sack themselves for their failings and unfortunately there is no one else who can do it for them.

In the meantime we all have to put up with their F**k ups for another 2 years.
But ye see we did have the chance 3 years ago to get rid of them but they were democratically re-elected becasue people did not like the alternative in Enda. But how can he prove himself without the chance to do so.

I get 20 days hols a year.
No sick days.
No overtime.
No shopping days.
No pay rise last year.
5% pay cut this year.
And frankly i don't care what the publixc sector lads get paid. Good luck to them. We're all workers and and we're all in this shitehole together. The gov't and ibec are loving seeing us at each others throats. 24th of nov should only be the start. Nama is a a national scandal. The last 10 years are a national scandal. We need a whole new system.

By the way bohsfc, there's only two aterix's in C**TS.:augie
