The reason folks fitted carbs to modified oilheads, was that BMW wouldn't release their codes , so the electronics couldnt be tweaked to suit the modifications.
But that was a few years back, and the code is broken and readers for BMW electronics are readily available , so no problems now, even with a turbo on an airhead.
Good, high pressure , sequential injection, like Triumph fitted to their cars back in 1966, will make more power than any carb set up.
But almost 50 years later most run of the mill systems are continous low pressure and are really only electronic metering , just a butterfly and a needle which is controlled electronically, rather than by vacuum, with high pressure sequential systems restricted t0 top line prestige and performance cars.
