Hi mate. You probably know this. Note the the clutch fluid is an oil an the brakes use brake fluid.

If the clutch is slipping you'll likely get it at different gears or revs so have an experiment.

I have the same bike and love it. Get a Dia63mm x 70mm tube to replace the stupid pass emissions/noise flappy valve & gear thing. Take the whole thing off and the bike runs fine. Stupid feck'n thing.
 
Best way to test for clutch slip is find a hill long enough and whack the throttle in a high gear. If the clutch slips you will see revs rise but speed doesn't keep pace.

The clutch does have a top access cover but BMW engineers have not allowed the air box to easily come out so you can't easily whip off the cover to have a look.

If you are thinking of selling the bike, try to get a ride on one with a power commander or Hilltop remap. That may well change your thinking. Wilber's suspension isn't cheap but the cost is a fraction of the that to upgrade to a newer bike. Its another transformative upgrade.
 
Assuming you are limited to a budget it's worth thinking about spending less on the bike and keeping more back for some basic mods that would make a huge difference: Hilltop and Decat, and Wilbers suspension. That's what I would do.

An easy way to check the clutch is to open the throttle at low speed in top gear, quickly dip the clutch letting the revs rise, let the lever snap back in
keeping the same throttle position; if the clutch doesn't pull back in straight away there is something amiss ie. clutch is possibly on it's way out.


Flappy valve would be fully open much further down the revs. If it hasn't seized!


Which it probably has :blast Mine is disconnected, wired full open to be sure and the servo removed to my bitsa drawer. No more flappy valve problems :thumb2
 
The whole flappy valve system can be removed - servo, cables, wiring and valve. The ECU records a fault but no warning appears on the dash and no other effects.

Soak the valve in diesel to free it off and put the whole lot into a tough poly bag so you can replace it later if you ever need to.
