Twin Cam Valve Adjustment

Having just had my second service (12,000 miles) carried out by a BMW Dealer I queried the Technician as to "what were the valve clearances like".
"Spot on" came the reply, "only ever had to adjust clearances on a Twin Cam" twice and they where both well thrashed GS bikes. Which gets me to wondering if BMW's "every 6000 mile" check is a bit over the top for a relatively slow reving engine with "shim" type adjustment. It would be interesting to hear if any Twin Cam owner's Twin Cam bikes have needed adjustments.

I have checked mine twice (GS Twin cam) in the past two years and found them to be within the tolerance.

IMHO, if they are in spec, and not on the edge of spec, at the 6K and 12K service, skip the 18K and do it at the 24K, and every 12K after that, unless the bike starts running a little off.
