My 09 bike is in for a service at Bahnstormers today and they have loaned me a Twin Cam model whilst it's in.

Did nt think there would be much difference in the engines but am very pleased to say that the TC model zips along very well indeed.

It has deffo left me impressed with the engine, its just got a really nice sharpness to it and a slightly different engine note.

If you haven't tried one, give it a go just to see what i'am raving on about.

This is the exact reason I don't want one as a courtesy bike :blast

Day was spoilt !!

After having a great days loan of the Twim Cam bike I picked up mine from said dealers and 30 miles later I've got a left boot was dripping in oil and the LHS and underneath of the bike has signs of a leak or something !! rang dealers who asked if it was ACF50 ? (as it had been done as part of the service) deffo oil, so now it's back up to Alton for an investigation into it.
Why are somethings never simple !!

Call BMW Assist and ask them to check it over before you ride it anywhere. They may even want to recover the bike back to Bahnstormers for you if it's a real problem :comfort

I test rode a twin cam in September and was very impressed with the extra power below 5k and the bit of extra zip above 8k (for 500 revs :( )

It pulled a higher gear everywhere and was much better at quick overtakes two-up.

It's most probably the classic case of the centre spark plug rubber oil seal being put on in haste after removing the rocker covers to check the valve clearances.

I'm sure Bahnstormer will fix it in about 2 minutes for you. Anything more serious will be done by them anyway if they were the last to touch it.

I was loaned a new twin cam bike at my last service and I have to say......
I was disapointed TBH, the ride postion felt like a french onion sellers push bike, the suspension was very harsh, the ESA made little difference no matter what and the motor itself apart from the extra 500 rpm really felt no better than my current GSA, certainly didn't make me want to part with loads of money to change....
