Twin Spark & Servo Years???

I have servos on my 04 gsa and they work great. If the fail... I'll throw the block out and run standard brakes. I'd buy the bike you want... and worry about the brakes later... if buy the bike then immediately take the servo off. It not complicated and many do it to perfectly fine breaking systems.

Mines an 04 with twin spark and no servos - no ABS either! Only the ABS models 2003 on (maybe some very late 2002s?) have servos AFAIK.

Servo's = best thing since sliced bread

I know lots of people knock them but I love the servo's. If they go bad, I'll just remove them

I don't think you can get a twin spark with plain ABS.

It a twin spark with servo/abs or standard non abs brakes.

Thanks for the feedback.
I will be guiding & teaching off road riding technique in addition to what we do with the smaller bikes here in Spain.
I would love a twin spark but non ABS, non servo bike.
Servo brakes and off road riding, do not work together.

If I get a bike with ABS and servo, how difficult is it to disconnect???

No difference, easy to remove the ABS, search on here you will find out how!

According to the riders manual it is possible to disable the Integral ABS on a twin spark so that the bike can be used off road.

Just need to follow the sequence in the manual using the ABS button on the handle bar.

I too loved my servo brakes, until the servofailed going down a twisty A road in Welsh mountain land....with road works blocking half the road and traffic lights. How I missed all the workmen and their plant neither I nor they will ever know!:blast

In a more serious situation, it would be very bad news indeed, you simply cannot pull on the lever hard enough to effect any braking effort without the servo motor. That I think is why BMW dropped them on later bikes.
