I recently bought a set of Iridium spark spark plugs £19 something, Yesterday I was about to fit them when I saw that the existing plugs had 2 ground electrodes one either side of the core electrode, does this mean my bike is a twin spark, and if so is that the only plug type I can use?

Thanks
Dick

Your bike is probably not a twin spark unless it says on the rocker covers, twin spark means the cylinder has two individual plugs, the standard bosch plugs do have two electrodes, some people use sinlge electrode plugs to try and eliminate surging, there are others plugs available but only the orginal bosch plugs are endorsed by BMW.

If your bike is produced after in 2003 it will be a twin spark, not sure of the month. It will quiet clearly state it on the valve covers anyway. Don't know about the plugs you've bought. You will find the second plug on the underside of the pot....

Thanks for the info, little brother will have to give the iridiums back and I'll try them out to see what if any difference they make.

Thanks Noel, got my Iridiums back and just fitted them, It could be my imagination but tick over sounds smoother, haven't time to test ride footy coming on.
