Twinsparking?

Go to the Boxerworks forum and do a search on squish bands , then go down to the Major Softie post - he has some good photographs of a squish band motor.
The other posts should explain the theory - if not try Google.

For porting , you need three things ,flow,or volume , speed to ram the air in, and turbulence to get good flame spread and fast and even combustion.

Airhead ports generally are quite large ,so efforts are concentrated on improving speed and turbulence, and details of how a tuner achieves this are a closely guarded secret. Sometimes he will actually add material to the post to make it smaller , and change the shape , rather than grinding it out.

Again try a search on posting on the Boxerworks forum , among the swill there is the odd pearl although it will take a bit of finding.

what about the silent hektik one?

I've heard of it but thats about it. I was referring to the Boyer Brandsden "bean can" ignition. I know that had a different curve because I bought one from one of the guys on this site to try it out. The Heavy flywheel bike had less advance on the ignition.

ive been trying to find out about it. supposedly its got a selectable advance curve with settings for twin plugging but cant find any reports from people who have used it. its not cheap but does sound like it would sort the drawbacks of twin plugging out.:nenau

Had a look in the Siebenrock catalogue?

http://www.siebenrock.com/index1.php?sprache=en and then "catalogue" and then "Technics" and about page 25 has some details of the Silent Hektik.

 €497 in the Seibenrock catalogue and €297 from Silent-Hektik if that's still correct or €397 from Motoren-Israel... though the kits seem to include various numbers of coils....

Jim currently uses 14mm lower plugs 'never known them to crack the heads'

in my experiance twin plugging means no pinging on 95 octane fuel, a smoother engine and an engine that will burst into life even when your starter/batterey is on its last legs.

The Silent Hektik ignition gives you a variety of ignition curves so you can chose what combination of static timing and advance you want. it helps to run a slightly hotter running plug on the bottom. I have played with various the curves and the seat of the pants dyno does not calibrate!

Jim has built me anew engine based on the seibenrock 1070 kit, can't wait to get it run in.
