Last Saturday I encountered in one day the two extremes of BMW bike dealers.
Firstly, the good, no very good, CW Motorcycles in Dorcester. Immediately greeted and made to feel very welcome. Chatted about Ted Simon's bike outside and offered coffee (not as bad as everyone suggested?
). Looked over the new G series then tried on the Enduro helmet for size. Couldn't fault dealership on any way. Helpful, knowledgeable, friendly with a good stock of bikes and acessories.
I left CWs and got ferry to Jersey. Also on ferry was rider who had just purchased new GS12 Adv from CWs rather than use Channel Island dealers Jacksons.
Later in the afternoon I called into Jacksons Garage as they had also been included in the dealer list for the launch of the G series. Bikes are obviously just a minor irritant to them hidden away in their plush showrooms with BMW cars, Mercs, Aston Martins and Bentleys. But no G series. After walking around and being ignored I went to leave. A car salesman asked if I wanted anything so I asked him about the new G series. He had no more idea of what a G series was than a G-string! He walked over to a K1200s and asked "Is this it?". I exxplained that they should have had the new range on display and details of test rides and competitions but he knew nothing.
You could not get more of a contrast between the two dealers.
I'll be calling in to CW again but not waste my time with Jacksons.
