Can you run two units from one pc, as in loading the mapping?
I have a Quest installed and want to use a load a 2610 as well, will the mapping which has been installed for the Quest go onto the 2610, do I just put both the codes in and bob's your uncle or is there more

Yes; enter both unit codes and, providing you haven't already used up your 2 map 'unlocks' Bob, as you say, will be closely related.

When you say used up map unlocks, if one unit has been installed before on another pc will the unlocks still work.
And I assume you have to use the same map (V6/V7)

You can use the mapping and unlock codes on as many computers as you like, but it will only work on the GPS’s you have registered it with and obtained unlock codes.

Garmin’s policy is you can unlock its mapping (City Select/City Navigator) to two devices. I shared my second unlock with a guy at work who has a Garmin 60cs, he has copies of the discs and he is registered with Garmin as the second user.

If there'e somebody left out there still caring about licensing and copyrights that gets inspired by this it is probably good to know that an arrangement like this means breaking the licensing agreement. It is only allowed to use the maps on two units owned by the same person.

Please note that this comment isn't directed at ebbo. I just think it is important information if one plan on doing this.

I appreciate your comment was not directed at me, but I will say again, we checked with Garmin before we did it, he is a registered user of that mapping.

My buddies 60cs failed after a few months and Garmin gave him a replacement FOC WITH another unlock code for the new GPS against our shared owner ship of the mapping. He made all the calls and Garmin were happy to deal with him.

Garmin are a good and fair company to work with, some people have issues with their mapping policy, I don’t. Mapping needs to be paid for so Garmin and Navtech can improve the product. :thumb

End of rant :soapbox: :)

FWIW,
Having dealt with Garmin UK for quite a while now, I see consistancy in the two points of view above...

I'm sure the license agreement says "one owner"... but the Garmin UK guys are great and very accomodating, so I can see them letting it slide...

I've had Etrex's replaced years after warantee expiration by the same people...

That said, Garmin isn't perfect... There's someone with power in the company who makes decisions that leave a bad taste very often... for instance making it so that using the computer generated autoroute facility in Metroguide will give you a navagable route on the old etrex, but will only give you two points on the newer mapping units (60C), thus causing a loss of functionality unless one spends the extra bucks for CitySelect.... Details like this are hard to learn until after you buy the unit... There are lots of other things I could go into, but in the end the people that we (in the UK) have to deal with, once we get past some of this stuff, are great...
