Rideout from Ullapool with brimmed tanks both arrived back in town 222 mile later showing zero fuel is this any sort of distance record?

Admittedly we were not too pacy!

That sounds like a fine distance on one tankfull. I've managed 195 on a ride back from France but I bricked it and filled up ! 1100GS with me and a ton of gear strapped to the bike.

My bikes original exhaust with stage 9 chip and Mikeyboy's has after market exhaust and stage 8. I'll post up quantities once we've fueled up assuming we can make the petrol station!!

I have seen 236 miles on standard tank two up through Spain on my R1150GS before refuelling (and 438 recorded on GPS with auxiliary tank fitted - that may be a record :D)

I did 435km (~270 miles) on a tank full to empty on my R1150GS with JohnGS Stage 9 chip

So Mikeyboy's bike took just short of 18L mine 20L. TTFN

I always work on 10 litres per 100 miles, and this leaves me with some in reserve. It is a rough rule of thumb and has worked out over some 240,000 miles on two seperate 1150s. Saves me having to watch the fuel light. Stick 25 litres in and know I am good for 250 miles whatever is thrown at me...sometimes only 23 litres goes back in to brim it up.

On the RBLR 1000 a few years back I filled up at the Esso garage about a mile north of the Erskine bridge. I next filled up in Wick. Trip meter showed 278 miles. And it only took 18.5 litres to fill. Standard 1100GS.

A few years earlier on my first GS I did Kendal to the Green Wellie Stop non-stop, trip showed 230 miles.

Got 150 miles pottering around, two up, in France once. We were expecting to run out at any time but luckily founds a garage. I can't remember how much fuel I got in but the tank gave a sigh of relief when I opened it

Does any body know what the usable tank capacity is for a steel fuel tank equipped 1999 R1100GS ? i've seen 24 litres quoted somewhere but have been told thats for the plastic tank, steel tank 21??

My fuel gauge was showing empty from 195 miles so i need the adjust the sender arm! The last 4 bars seem to just go over about the last 40 miles.

I think officially it's 25 litres Andy but I've never been able to get that much in, apparently you have to drill an air hole to let the pressure out in offer to fill to the brim.

I tend to start thinking about looking for fuel after about 375 miles on my 1150, but it does have a 41 litre tank :D
