If you are changing tyres for Maroc you could do no worse that use the services of Jesus to do it for you.

Jesus Ruiz runs Ruiz Brothers Special Motorcycles and was the guy who changed all the tyres for the Callum's Road Crew.

Jesus speaks perfect English and couldn't have been more helpful :thumb2

Ruiz Brothers Special Motorcycles are situated on the main road into Algeciras as you enter from the North, on your left and approx 500m before the underpass - you can't miss them.

Tyre Changing - Algeciras

Just out of interest, I called in to see Jesus on my way to Maroc a few weeks ago needing to change over to TKC's I carried from UK. He wanted to charge me 90 euros and that was with me removing the wheels, a bit steep I thought. in the end I called in at BMW Casablanca and they were really good I arrived late but they still got me back on the road for 54 euros and will store my old tyres till I return.

I think Jesus will have to revert to his old life of talking to crowds on hills and doing tricks with wine & fishes ! :thumb2

Yep, when I went in 2011, he was getting p}##ed off at all the GSers turning up wanting tyres changed. His business is making custome bikes.

With the price of labour one-tenth that of Europe, the best thing is to wait until you are in Morocco and look for a roadside tyre outfit with massive tractor and truck tyres outside (NOT a moped/scooter place). These guys do nothing but change tyres all day long. They will probably ask you to remove the wheels yourself but to change both tyres will cost you maybe 40-50dh, in other words less than £5.

Bear in mind that the mechanics earn 80-100dh per day so if they quote you 100dh for both tyres you are being stung. Mind you, that's still not much money.

Would they store them? Probably--an interesting challenge in mime if that's how you are communicating. Otherwise ask at the hotel you stopped at overnight. 5dh per night is a typical charge for baggage storage.

You should write a travel book on Morocco. I'd certainly buy it. You've probably already posted most of your wisdom on the country, but it would be a great one stop resource for those who need a bit of encouragement to go. :thumb
