Hi All,

I know this is a massive subject and down to each persons choice but I am after a bit of advise on which tyres to purchase for my GSA.

I have been running Roadtec 01's but cannot seem to get these in the size for my bike albeit not the best for mileage. I am now looking for other options. I like the feel of a road tyre in both wet and dry conditions where it can be pushed in the twisties.

I am thinking of PR6's or similiar? Any feedback with recommendations would be appreciated.

TA Steve

Yes, very personal, but... my two cents:

After a few sets of TKC70s, since I now have a second set of wheels for knobblies, so I went for Pirelli Scorpion Trail IIs on the main set of wheels. Incredibly happy with those. Great in the rain too.

Metzeler Tourance 2 on the road, and I switch to Motoz Tractionator Adventure for trips that will involve tracks and green lanes.

As per Leadfarmer, Conti Trail Attack 3... Tried others (Tourance, Anakee, Road Pilot...). Now had three sets of CTAs and they have been the best by a big margin....

Very personal thing is tyre choice as can be seen!

I've had Metzeler Roadtec 01, Avon Spirit, Avon Trailrder, Metzeler Tourance, Metzeler Tourance, Bridgestone A41.

Value for money Avon Trailrder, excellent tyre dry and wet. If you have deep pockets Metzeler Roadtecs. Superb tyre. Worst tyre..... Bridgestone A41's in my eyes complete rubbish in the wet and couldn't wait to get them off. Interested in the Dunlop Mutants or Continental TrailAttack 3 next.

Just done a 4,700 mile European trip with 3 GS's (and an RS).

We all had new tyres before the trip

One GS on Tourance Next 2, one on PR6, one one CTA3 (the RS had PR5)

The guy with the PR6 reckons (himself) it was not the best. It had worst wear rate, and definitely not the best grip, he experienced a few slides on polished tarmac in southern Europe when the Next and CTA behaved better.

The CTA3 and Next 2 had very similar wear. The CTA has resisted "squaring" better and both had great grip in wet and dry conditions (some good lean angles recorded! :) ). Both the Next 2 and the CTA3 have at least 2k miles left (altho as I mentioned the Next is squaring off a tad), the PR5 coming up for replacement soon. The bikes had very similar treatment, we were not hanging about on the mountain roads...

The guy with the PR6 is going back to Next 2. I'll be staying with CTA3.

Pirelli STR for me.
Avon Storm 3D XM is my Personal Favourite in the Road Style.
Conti TA started to wear oddly after about 3500 miles, Grippy Tyre though.

I think I have set my mind on trying a set of CTA 3's Any heads up of best priced placed to buy these? Anyone recently purchased some and could recommend?

Been looking at those Pirelli's for some time... They look great and get good reviews. May splash out one day and try them

But as per above, the CTAs just don't square off like all the other tyres meaning they ride well for a long time

I've found the CTA's on my TC GSA have worn very badly. They aren't Squaring Off, but the Blocks are wearing very unevenly, especially on the Rear. I won't be using them again. I only put them on this time because they were stupidly cheap
