I like my Karoo 3 very much, except for the noise on tarmac. With earplugs they are bearable. On gravel and offroad, they are divine.

They were scary the first trips though, because they changed the cornering skills of Piroska so much that it felt like going from a long-forked chopper to a MotoGP-bike (NOT the Ducati...). I really thought I was going to tip inwards in the narrower corners, and felt I had to "stomp" the bike up a couple of times. Tyres before were Anakee 2.

Now I love that behaviour and I'm trying to find 80/20 tyres with the same feeling for my holiday tour. Someone said TR91.

(Edit: Piroska = 2006 1200GS. Why can't I find how to put her as my avatar? Am I that stoopid?)
(Edit 2: Yes I was, but now I'm not.)

I've done quite a bit of off roading on a 1200 in Spanish Pyrenees and used TKC80's. The tyres are great in that terrain and I would not want to be on cross over tyres or anything with more of a road bias.

Riding there and back on TKC80'S is fine but keep speed down to 80mph max otherwise the rear wears real quick.

You can always take spare rear with you and fit it down there.

PM if you want more info / routes etc.

Am going down again 3rd week july.

Having moved from Bridgestone to Metzelers well happy, decided to stay away from full on knobblies mainly due to the speed rating they come with.

Back now from trip , 3600 miles down as far as Casablanca , and quite a bit of off road. Metzelers never let me down , well happy with my choice and still loads of life left in them .
cheers :thumb

The new TKC70'S so far seem to be a good tyre, certainly on the road much superior to TKC80's and a better looking tread for trails than Trailattacks or Tourances.
