Hi guys,
Just purchased. 2020 1250 GS , the bikes covered 2000 miles and fitted with Bridgestone tyres .
There seems to be a lot of front end noise which I’m putting down to the tyres.
Anybody have the same problem or is just a characteristic for this bike or is there a better quieter tyre choice .

I've had the same problem as have a lot of others and could only ride wearing ear plugs. If you fit a pair of Roadtech-01's there will be no noise at all from the tyres.

The GS is known for being effected by tyre choice for noise. I've a 2020 with the same tyres and it's not an issue for me though I'm on my 3rd GS so maybe used to it by now. That or my Schuberth helmet and ear plugs are doing a good job

I found Anakee to be really noisy. Really tiring.

On 1250GSs there’s often a constant whine which seems to come from somewhere above the seat,

Very funny thread this. Buy a bike capable of going off road, put road tyres on it so that it is less capable off road and ride it where an RS would be a much more capable bike.

Ditto on that, fitted on a 21 GSA from new, although as a tyre the grips not bad. Was thinking of fitting Mutants next. Anybody with experience to share?

i fitted a pair to my r1250gs 500 miles ago ,as far as i can tell no noise

Thanks for that. I was thinking of Road 5 after Anakees that came with new bike. I hate the noise from the front and had great experience with Pilot Road 4 on my last two bikes.

I’ve experienced that, though the whining I hear is just above the pillion seat :D

I had Anakees from new on my 2020 GS, there was some noise so changed them for PR5's now there's more noise :blast

I don't want to go off road so don't need off-road tyres, had a couple of demo's on the RS - didn't like it, especially the riding position for long runs and touring, but I do like the riding position of the GS and GSA for day to day rides and touring so that's what I spend my money on :-)

Each to their own, so if you enjoy going off road then why not a Tenere 700 as surely much more suitable than a GS?

Karoo3 if you want noise ;)

That said, tyres are deffo in short supply atm,

I was inquiring yesterday about tyres -

Nil stock on trail attack 3's Trailriders were available but up £50 inc fitting from last year now just north of £300

If it helps ProTyre, £286 fitted on a pair of TA3. Fitted tomorrow if you wanted them, use the code MACATYRE15 ( Not Affiliated)

I can’t remember what was on my GS from new, but the mechanic at Tonbridge agreed that it was awful and they fitted CTA3s. Frankly, I’d have given them the bike back, it was so horrible. Shame when you’ve spent a load of money on a premium product.

Better, but still bloody noisy. I don’t know if the “hole” somehow amplifies it, it certainly channels the noise very effectively.

I had test ridden an 1150 a while back and it was much quieter, but I have no idea what tyres it had.

It’s my biggest gripe with what is an outstanding bit of kit, it sounds like a cement mixer on anything other than really really smooth tarmac.

I had a few sets of Anadin 3s on my Crosstourers, mileage and grip I couldn’t fault them but so noisy at motorway speeds. Bridgestone A41s on my 1250GS and the front does make quite a noise and I can’t say I like them much. Generally I’m a Michelin fan but CTAs seem to be highly regarded on the GS and on the big Honda so may give then a go when the time comes to change.

As for staying on tarmac on the GS, my bike, I paid for it, up to me where I ride it. Sure the same goes for most owners.
