Anyone have any experience riding in sand with tubeless tyres? I have a trip comming up which may include soft sand. Just thinking how low a tyre pressure you can run tubless tyres.

Pretty low. I did some riding in sand on Tourances. Starting at 2.4 bar and 2.8 bar, which was crap, and went down to 1.5 bar and 1.7 bar, which was much, much better, but still a bit crap. I was wishing I had TKCs. That would have made a big difference.

Ta Kropotkin, what sort of speed could you do with those pressures? Did it handle like a jelly on springs?

I was recently using my bike with 22psi / 25 psi in the tyres, which are similar to the pressures kropotkin quotes - 60mph on tarmac was a bit wobbly but OK. The tyres were TKC80s though.

It actually handled suprisingly well, though I was totally knackered at the time, so I was just doing boring flat motorway all the way home, and taking bends like the largest girl's blouse available in western Europe.

At motorway speeds, the tyre actually heats up quite a lot, which raises the pressure in the tyre, so it's not as underinflated as you might otherwise think.
