Just had some BT-020 instead of D607s put on my R12GS. All very nice, rides nicer etc. :thumb2

However, on checking through the Bridgestone and Dunlop catalogues in the garage I found the recommended manufacturer tyre pressures are firstly just one set of figures (unlike the 3 sets in the BMW instructions) and it is alot higher than the BMW figures. What do you go by? The guy reckons the BMW figures were too low and have caused premature wear on my D607 :spitfire (which were good while they lasted).

Metzeler factory tyre technicians told me much the same @ Garmisch BMW Motorrad event in 2005 & 2006

The BMW values are too low, in their opinion

For Tourances they suggested about 38-40psi in the front and about 42-46psi in the rear

So I pumped them up:P

Works ok for me..................solo for Tourances I run 36 in the front and 40 in the rear, but up the values if loaded with pillion and/or luggage

I also questioned Dunlop re: tyre pressures and received the following e-mail

Please feel free to follow BMW's recommendations, it's just that in our
testing our test riders felt that 2.5 bar front and 2.9 bar rear worked
best under all loads.

Who do you believe - just changed a set of BattleWings that were run at 2.6/2.9 according to the pressure measurer and mostly 2 up,but both tyres 'cupped' and the man in the shop said 'higher pressure mate, try 2.8 up front' :nenau
