Had a puncture in my back tyre last week which really p'eed me off as it was a new tyre with very few miles on it.
It was a tiny screw which did the damage and it was in the centre third of the tyre tread, nowhere near the sidewall.
The AA did their job and dumped me & the bike off at Bretton MotorCycles near Broughton on the Cheshire / north Wales border.
I thought that a simple puncture repair was all that was required but when I 'phoned the garage the next morning I was told that "We can't fix it. Health & safety. New tyre needed..."
I wasn't too happy about this and 'phoned around various dealers and tyre factors who all repeated the same mantra........ (We don't fix punctures in motorbike tyres any more.......only car tyres.)
So I had a new Tourance fitted at £120 to get mobile, but took the punctured tyre home with me, and I'm glad I did as I found a tyre dealer who saw no problem at all in vulcanizing the tyre. (£20 and ready next day....)
If you are having problems getting an otherwise perfectly good tyre repaired and are in the Chester area you could do much worse than contacting D & M Tyres at Hooton - opposite the Rail station - on 0151-327-3165 and it could save you lots of ££s.
I have no connection to D&M Tyres other than as a satisfied customer, and I post this to save others from getting the same run-around that I got when dealing with tyre factors and m/c dealers.
