Just got my new Tourances fitted this afternoon at Sidcup Motorcycle Tyres...whilst there I asked about the possibility of a bit off for Gser members - and they agreed to 7.00 quid per set of tyres not a fortune, I know, but better than feck all...

Also for the people that want to keep a set of knobblies and get them swapped round - 50 quid to put them on and take them off again after your off road adventures...

BTW I paid 177.00 for a pair of Tourances fitted...

Any discount is cool but knowing any business that can afford to set up shop in salubrious Sidcup its worth a little trip to 'down town' Catford namely Watling Tyres theyre normally have all the range to choose from and r cheaper and good geezers theyre doin two wheelers all fecking day .. :thumb

...yep Watling Tyres, much cheaper than Sidcup. Fact that Watlings is full of dispatch riders tells you something!!! :)

Indeed but keep a close eye on some of the younger fitters who are more usually distracted by the eye candy passing the big window.

I usally keep Neil, John or Adrian's attention focussed on my bike when I'm there :thumb

what tyres do you recommend

I have just bought a 05 1200GS which has dunlops, what tyres would anyone recommend are the dunlops as good as?

Cheers

Fair enough - any prices ? What do they do a set of Tourances fitted for...? If they're cheaper/better - why don't we (as a club) speak to them and arrange something similar...

About £180 ride in/ride out. Never asked for a discount before so no idea whether they would but a good outfit all the time if very, very busy.

not much on price then really...3 quid cheaper at Sidcup...they do however take a lot of care with the bike. I recall someone telling me that they had asked atling about changing to knobblies when required and back again - they quoted 30 quid each way so I thought a 50 quid deal sounded good...

Nas you can get em cheaper than 3 knicker if you walk yer wheels in ive done that at Catford for many years that way as the judge geezer said you avoid accidents to ABS shit etc although those guys do it blind folded you can then refit the wheels yourself.loctite the rear studs and torque em up.Thus saving a few quid more and getting to know yer bike.Anyway each to his own.Feck group discounts this aint the WI........... :bounce1

...I take my wheels loose into Watlings. I've had calipers etc. fall off before, so prefer to do it myself. Like you say, benefit in saving a few quid which appeals to the tight yorkshireman in me :)

I drove all the way to Yorkshire once to strip out a V8 from an old classic Rangy Rover the farmers misses was a right sort she made a good cuppa only trouble was the f.cking oil pump went a few weeks after.............tight bastard I should of checked the oil pressure :tosser

I've gone to Watlings in Catford all my biking life (15 years) which has seen John and Adrian there all the time, Adrian was a fitter at the time and has now risen to No.2 and usually man's the desk.

Neil came into the fray probably 10 years ago now and is the MOT tester, nice and thorough like you want in an MOT rather than a cursory glance and a bit of paper duly signed. They are a very busy place, during the week many despatach riders and at the weekend every other fekker.

Fitting to loose wheels and access to bike stands and tools to do your own removals and fittings, or full ride in ride out.

In those fifteen years I only strayed 3 times, twice to Sidcup M/C Tyres when under Steve's ownership when Watling couldn't get what I wanted (TKC's) and once when I went to Micheldever Tyres which is a fantastice set-up but a 180 mile round trip for me.

The Mrs also takes the car to Watlings and aside from being a good bunch they tend to be the ones who have stock when all others have none.

Seven quid discount....fecking 'ell.....three days ago had one (1) new Anakee fitted at the rear and it cost exactly the same....could almost have a trip to blighty for the difference.........

I will put a shout in for Russell Motors, 125 Falcoln Road SW11, excellent service, good prices and very GS friendly, they always have Tourance in stock!

I went for a run at the weekend and decided to check the tyre pressures 26 f 11 r so after a wee run to the air line the bike handled magesticly even in the wet, so i think i'll stick with the dunlops but at the right pressures :thumb
