I was speaking to a chap yesterday at Bahnstormer, Maidenhead about tyres. Yep, life in the fast lane, folks!:D

Anyway, I can't remember which ones he has, so if you're on here let me know, as Dean kindly pointed out that my front is nearly shot, at 7500 miles.:blast

Ah, ok. I thought they may have been.:thumb

He rated them as very good on the road, but they're listed as a 50/50 tyre, with some not so good reviews as a road tyre, so I wasn't sure.

I'm not a fan of them on my F800GS but many people do like them... they're great hard wearing long distance adventure tyres. They're a PITA to change as the tyre wall is so stiff but this helps when lowering pressures for better off road terrain.

What are they like on the road, when riding spriritedly?:augie

You can ride to the side walls in the dry, a bit more caution is needed in the wet. They allow the bike to move around as the blocks squidge but you get used to it and they do grip. They can square off quite badly but again, because the blocks deform you don't get the "riding on a knife edge" feeling that you get on the Mark 1 Tourance for example.

That's what I've heard.

My rear Anakee 3 has done approx 2k miles, and although it doesn't look squared off, when leant right over in a bend it seems to ride off the edge, which is slightly unnerving. Coupled with the fact that it needs a new front tyre soon, I'm looking to change both. If the K60 is worse, that probably wouldn't be the best tyre for me. Oh well, the search for the perfect tyre continues!

I have a friend that does Iron Butt rallies and he swears by the Michelin PR4, excellent dry grip, excellent wet grip and excellent wear. No good if you want to go off road of course!

I've heard that they're meant to be great on the road, but like the occasional foray off the beaten track, so they're out, for me.

On that basis you might consider the Pirelli Scorpion MT90. Standard fitment on KTM 950/990 Adventure. They're there only tyre I've ever run on the three I've owned and I find them to be the best combination of dry / wet / on / off road. I get 5-6k out of a rear and 9-10k out of a front.
Every time I need new boots on mine I always run the gauntlet of searching out alternatives and every time I fit another set of 'Scorps' .......
That said, the tyre choice is limited due to the 18/21 tyre combination and the KTM doesn't have as much power as an LC ....

Ok, I'll check those out, and see what sizes they come in :thumb

I have the Anakee 3s on my F800GS and can also confirm it does not take much to ride off the edge of the front tyre 21" the profile is quite flat compared to other tyres normally with other tyres brands the rear tyre reaches the edge before the front and is a lot safer when it starts to slide.
