Hi , I bought a used bike a while back which came with a new rear tyre but had a used Michelin pilot 2ct fitted to the front & would like to know the tread depth of the Michelin tyre when new so I can judge weather it's likely to last on my up and coming spain trip.
Thanks
Ian.

Rain, sunny later.

Sorry couldn’t help it.

If you’re asking the question, you know it’s going to be close.
Best bet is to treat yourself to a new tyre before you go. If money is tight, you could keep the old one and refit it later.
Can be a right pain getting a new tyre fitted on a trip.

Hope you enjoy your trip:thumb

As above, don't risk it, fit a new one.

I'm only asking as over the past twenty odd years have all way's use metzeler tourance tyre's which have a large tread depth , where as sport touring tyre have very little tread when new in comparison.
So I'm finding it hard to judge the tread depth if you know what I mean.!

Had a tour spoiled some years back by not changing a tyre I thought had 1500 miles left on it, 400 fully loaded miles later the front started to wear on the shoulders and I had to curtail my ride a bit. I have only ever used Metzeler and have Tourance 2's on at the moment and cannot fault them.

Enjoy your trip.

All sorted now, called in to have a word with my independent mechanic for his apinion on the tyre & his advice was to fit a new one before my trip as the old tyre only had approximately 1000 to 1500 miles left in it.
Thanks for everyone's input.
Ian.
