Tyre valve blown out

I was just cleaning me BMW Gs1150 wheels rims of shite and caught the rubber valve - only slightly with the brush THE CENTRE BLEW OUT OF THE VALVE and obviously deflated big quicktime = I had been doing a "Good Tadge" over the Motorway speed limit about 10 minutes earlier
Was I unlucky or lucky and has anyone else had an experience with the centres blowin out of "rubber valves"
Helpful or tips appreciated

What a coincidence.

Was it was the actual centre of the valve, and not just the screw-in valvy bit?

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Never heard of this happening to anyone before.

Checking the pressures on the Grinnall. Went to screw off the valve cap and the entire centre of the valve came out, leaving just the rubber bit.

Wheel off, down to tyre place for new valve.

A good reason to make sure you have decent valve caps fitted (note to self....get a few new ones tomorrow, there's one missing on the GS and one on the SAAB )

There's not exactly much meat on the threads on the average valve

Worth checking periodically

It wasnt that bit which blew out. It was the bit which that screws into. The bit the cap screws onto. Its a brass tube bonded (I presume) to the rubber outer.

Happened to me

Had the same problem on the GS back wheel quite a few years ago - it was still the original valve as supplied from BMW.
I'd noticed the tyre seemed to have lost a bit of pressure so Iwas taking off the valve cap to check/inflate when the whole brass centre just blew out
Doesn't bear thinking about on the road. I now have much more respect for the system of fitting new valves with new tyre.
Somebody suggested it may be caused by using Gunk or similar for cleaning but i don't know if that theory is connected?

Fit the solid aluminium ones, apparently they are excellent, also no rubber to split etc.

Never seen that before.....

I've seen plenty of the valve cores loose and leaking, and a good number of the rubber valve seats pull through or leak at their bases (usually down to uneven surface/corrosion around the seat area on the inside of the rim) but the metal tube coming separated from the rubber body? Sounds like a manufacturing failure to me.....that should not happen ! (says he, stating the fekking obvious )

I loosened the cap after just to show it is a newish un
I reckon it was new last tyre - my mate is a tyre fitter so it were fitted OK
I had been thrashing about Scotland for 3 days and had been relying on a good grip at too many times to mention
It did give me a - bloody hell, I think/know I am a lucky lad thought

A friend of mine had the whole valve blow out on the rear of his ST1100 on the M1! He said the moment it happened he knew something was wrong, but the tyre didn't go down so fast he couldn't react to it. He just slowed down and pulled on to the hard shoulder. It's not the same as a tyre blowing out I guess (still not good though).

Mine went at about 80-90mph when I was slowing down to turn into the workshop,so I was going straight at the time. Didn't take many seconds to go flat at all. I thought I was going slow enough to turn right into the workshop gates,and only just managed it. Almost a wall/Donkey interface situation

On mine, the whole of the rubber stem had split close to the rim. It might sound silly, but it took a bit of finding, because it looked alright untill you touched it. I was looking for a bolt or something major stuck in the tyre.

I have a new valve every other tyre, so it must have been a duff one I guess.

Yes, that's them. Got mine off eBay for about £15 the pair but you never need to change them again apparently. Fitted them myself at the next tyre change with a drop of loctite for extra measure on the retaining nut and everything has been fine since. I don't know if anyone has any bad experiences with them?
