I know there are already many threads but-

My Twin Cam is ready for two new tyres and the place I usually get them has recommended Bridgestone A40s or Conti AK70

Both are more road orientated I don`t green lane but ride in the Dales a lot with some minor roads looking more like tracks anyway.

I have an old style Tourance on the rear which has been fine and a Tourance Next on the front which I hated to start with but is ok.

Your thoughts and any experience's greatly appreciated on these or others

I put them on my 2004 1150gsa currently done 6000ish on them

Prior to those i had Tournance Next which were also a good tyre, prior to the Next I had Tournance, not the best tyre in todays market.

I did the Alps on the A40's and the grip compared to the Next is definatly better, but not hugely.

Where these are really strong is in the wet, much more feed back and much much more grip than the Next ever seemed to be.

Wear is very good no different to the Next IMHO.

Bridgestone are offering free fitting in Feb so phone around a few that stock them and you might get a good deal.

Final point, the original tournance at the time I had were were a good tyre, but after having the Next and now the A 40's I would never fit a Tournance again, I would fit the Next but only if the A 40's weren't available.

Hope that helps

I had tourances on my 1200gs and wanted something a bit more 'offroad'. Continental tkc70's were my pick and I'm not disappointed. Better in the wet, more grip on the dirt and as of yet, no obvious wear after about 1000 miles. Would fit them again
