Tyres Battlewings v Tourance

Just picked my New 1200 SE

This is the first GS I've had that doesn't have Tourances on it. It has the Battlewings.

I know tyre opinions are like :augie:augie everyone has one, but thought I'd get some feedback.

Anyone here ridden with both of the above and what are your views.

I've always been a big fan of the Tourance, they have never let me down , in any condition.
 
:) Yes I've used both, my Adv came shod with B-Wings and I changed to Tourances
the B-Wings were a nice tyre, easy to turn, plenty of grip and handled two up no bother either, I ended up changing the pair at about 6000 miles ( I can't get the starship milage some others do :nenau)
Tourances, slightly better turn in, and I feel, better in the wet tho not by a huge amount and milage wise I seem to be getting about 8000 from a front and 5000 from a rear tho it has to said the vast majority of that was done either two up with luggage or fully laden for a tour so in normal use I'd expect more from them.
I'd buy either tyre again, neither shines so much above the other to make it a first choice.

Mine came with Conti's but the rear only lasted 4k so moved over to the Battlewings. Not a bad tyre but I'm not convinced with them. I don't feel they have as much feed back and can be a little vague in the wet. It's down to what you like at the end of the day but I won't be putting Battlewings on again.
 
Its black and round and made of rubber, how many of us can actually tell what tyre we have on unless we get down on all 4's and have a look ?

I have Battlewings on as that is what they had on when I bought them, I then put BW on again when due for a change, they do me fine for my tarmac riding and suit my normal riding style suited to the style of bike it is.
 
Like BeemerBaz, it's black, round and sticks so it's good enough.

I've tried all the makes on my GSA and currently have B/Wings and I think they are a very good tyre. I'm also happy to mix brands as long as they are the same basic tread pattern. Done it for years with no issues.
 
The only tyre I was happy to get rid of on a GS was the Trail Wing, happily labelled the Death Wing :(

All the others were / are better than me, have greater lean angle capability than me. One thing I've noticed is the trend for the front tyre to have half the tread depth they used to have so wear out the same time / sooner than the rear :(

30k on the bike now
on 3rd set of Battle Wings still loads of tread left
averidge 12K a set both prev times
ridden in and over ice snow sun sand gravel rocks
very happy with em and will put a 4th set on at 36K :thumb2
 
Had the Battlewings on the bike when I bought it and found like all Bridgstones they didn`t enspire confidance in the wet or over white lines.

The Tourances I find better in the wet and over white lines also a quicker turn in and also return higher millage, but admitt the Battlewings had the edge on grip in the dry.
 
It's not how good they are, it's how good they make you feel, my BW are shot at 6,000 so I'm going to try Tourances.......if they feel good I'll stick with them.

Wish I was 18 again when it didn't matter what they were, anything had unlimited lean angles and gripped until they let go, of course it didn't hurt so much when everything went down the road then either!
 
i have battle wings and due for a change... my bro has the tourance and tells me to get them.... i like the look of the tourance exp, what are they like
 
I have Battlewings and will probably go to Anakee 2 in the spring. They are not bad. However I need a tire slightly better on dirt roads and in the wet. Wear on the new Anakee 2 is supposed to be pretty good as well. I get the sense from a few folks that the Anakee 2 is becoming more favoured over the Tourance. On a side note, I do like the K60 :-)

I originally had Battlewings on my GS when I bought it, the rear was shot (Squared off) after about 5K miles... but worse than that I had had a few scary moments in the wet.

Replaced them with Avons...Azaro front, Storm Rear....well impressed.
good stability and wear rates while still retaining good grip..especially in the wet.

Have just replaced the rear for another one the same after 10.5K miles...the front looks unused!!
 
Had BWings on my GSA as OEM. Sold 'em to Bilco as they were horrid in the wet. Went to Tourance and apart from the front wheel shimmy when new, they're great tyres wet and dry.

All personal choice, depends how you ride, what you weigh and how you prefer your feedback.
 
I ve tried Conti Trail Attacks Tourance EXPs Anakies and Battlewings. Would rate them as 1st choise 2,3,4th. Conti is the best of them for shear cornering, feedback and turn in. Have 1650km on and you can still read the engraving on the tread
