I fill my tyres with helium. It makes the bike lighter and therfore it handles better and does better wheelies and stoppies.

Additional benefits.
1..You know when you get a puncture because you start laughing and the pitch of the engine noise gets higher.

2 ..When having your tyres changed, the gasses expelled from the tyres puts the fitters in a better mood and they may charge you less.

Original use came from the aviation industry to prevent corrosion.

I was always told it's to do with the brakes overheating, and if the tyres are nitrogen filled it won't support combustion, if its an air mix then it will.

that's pretty unlikely since the brakes are surrounded by a gas that supports combustiuon

its to do with a brake fire, the wheels have a fuseable plug that melts and releases the gas - think of blowing onto a BBQ, this is what you dont want to happen so nitrogen is used as its inert and also it has the added benefit of reducing any corrosion

Hi all,
New front tyre fitted at A1 tyres Dromore today.
They now fill allbike tyres with Nitrogen, google the benefits, at no extra charge.
I have always found them to be the cheapest around. £80 all in for metzeler tourance.
