...looking ahead optimistically to when i get my rebuilt wheels back I'm trying to decide on a tyre choice.

Whenever I went for the chunky look on my 1150Adv I plummed for the TKC 80's... which were surprisingly grippy but wear out quick.

So i'm looking for the 'chunky' off-roady look and am aware there are other options on the market ...

...what's your comments gents?

....very Ta

I am using TKC 70 on my R100gs they are very good on the road wet and dry but possibly limited off road. There is also a new TKC70 mud tyre but no knowledge of that.

I've had TKC 80s on mine several times and they're a good standard. However, if you're not doing too much off road the originals, Metzeler Enduro 1 and Enduro 2 are pretty good and that's what I have on at the moment.

With some options, you'll have trouble getting the width of the rear, but TKC70s are nice too, I have them on my 100PD and my 1150.

Another chunky one to consider which probably doesn't look right on a g/s but are still pretty good, are MT21s. I have those on my special

Have a look at the tyre manufacturers pics to find the ones you like the look of, but remember, the limiting factor is the width of the rear.

AS stock the Tractionator which has a good rep in Oz and over the pond.

I've looked at these but they don't the the rear narrow enough as the G/S has a 4 inch width which is nearly 102mm. The narrowest I think they do is a 110 or a 120 rear. These stand a good chance of fouling the swinging arm. Happy to be corrected.

Bridgestone AX41 ?

A great review of 80/20 and 50/50 tyres here, which led me to the AX41's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjtgLz1LjnE

I like and use both TKC 70’s and ‘80’s but I’m looking at the various Motoz tyres for my next build.

...didn't realise that...so we only have 102mm?

Ah. I think I can go up to a 140 with a Moorespeed rear wheel.

Have a look at reviews of Enduro 3 Sahara. I like it, good allrounder even if it does wear a bit faster than something more road oriented.

I tried TKC 80s but they wore badly and unevenly. I now use Mitas E-09 rear with MT 21 front. Both work well on and off road and wear reasonably well.

There are probably more up to date alternatives

Metzler Sahara 3s

Try these, worked well in dry and wet, fine on gravel, great mileage...on my 3rd set, suit the bike well.FF296D2C-8A6F-495D-90DB-55F4B6EF6843.jpg

I’ve got TKC70s on my Mikeyboy R80.
They are very good.
If it was my choice, I’d fit Pirelli Scorpion Rally STRs.
I’ve not even checked they do the correct sizes but they look more blocky than TKC70s but handle even better....
