Hello,
First, I like the tech input on this forum, it's good, very good.

Well I am buying my GS in about 6 weeks, ( just waiting on my second test ride on teh GSA) I want the GSA, I thought the seat height would be an issue ( i am 6ft), but there is a difference to sitting on one in a show room and actually riding one, did not have any problems , even 2 up.
The only one issue I have and please, asking for some input from you guys are the tyres on the GSA.
I've been riding a dvi 900 for a few years and I know the dunlop ST or the BT02's, will do around 10K on motor-way touring tarmac. But the tyres on the GSA, look totally off road type to me, so off -hand how ..
many miles will the fitted GSA types do on motorways ?
can I fit dunlop ST or BT02 on them and will they work ?
What do you guts find best for tyres on the GSA when doing motor-ways?

Thanks

Hi There and welcome to the site :thumb2

You having a new one? if so you can probably get the dealer to put either nobblies or road tyres on the bike...

I'd recommend either Metzeler Tourance/EXP or Conti road or trail attacks...

Done around 6k on my trail attacks so far, Skye next week with still plenty of meat left on the back tyre.. and alot of that was continental motorway miles ;)

Good luck with your purchase:beerjug:

tyres ??

g'day ( colonial form of greeting )

I have a 1150 GSA, which is a heavy pig. In theory, you on a lighter bike should get better milage than me. Unless your pillion has a huge arse
( colonial expression denoting great beauty ).:)

Metzeler Tourance - 20k Km's rear, 22-25k Km's front
Michelin Anarkees - 16.5k Km's rear, 23k Km's front
Pirelli Scorpions - 8k Km's rear, 12k (?) Km's front and still wearing, plenty of tread left on both

The figures are what I have achieved on my bike riding like and old tart
( colonial expression of superior riding skill/style

The tyres listed at 80/20 road/dirt oriented. Great on sealed roads and ok on dirt roads/tracks.

Those Continental knobbie things wear out really fast on sealed roads, save them up for an expedition or sell them to someone who thinks he is on an expedition.

I hope this is of some use to you.
cheers gregGS
