Just getting my R100GS ready for a trip at the end of the month and need to replace the nearly finished Tourances which have been on for a few years now. Just wondering what the current preferred fitting is? 99% tarmac these days.

Thanks, tend to favour the TAs but wasn’t sure they were available in the right sizes. Pricey aren’t they!

The existing Tourance front is worn out although the rear still has a bit of life in it - they have been good though. The Tourance Next 2 is V speed rated only so more expensive. The Anakee adventure does get good reviews, TKC70 seem good but more expensive (slightly) than the TAs so I’ve ordered these. Thanks for the replies.

Karoo Street on mine. Very secure but a bit noisy, like any blocky tread. They've lasted well and I have Pirelli Scorpion ready to replace the rear when it finally goes bald.

On my G/S PD i have the TKC 80s and on my G/S i have the Pirelli scorpion , both are ok for me but the scorpion seems to be a much lower profile which makes a difference to the cruising RPM

I’d fit continental tkc70,
Not overly pricey for a top brand tyre.
To carcass is the same as a road attack so not too stiff, good grip wet/dry,easy to get some heat into.
The heidenau is an agricultural thing ,very stiff with a hard compound,
Ok if your travelling through Morocco or the like, scary if your in a cooler climate.
Up till the popularity of “adventure bikes” the k60 was cheap.
Nowadays they are a similar price as a top branded tyre.
Eastern European tyre with a U.K. price tag

How do you rate the Mitas offerings? E07 perhaps?

Cruising revs doesn't affect me, I don't go thast fast!

Came to the conclusion that TKC70s were the best option to replace the near 20 year old tyres on a bike acquired last year. Haven't found anybody with a bad thing to say about them (other than the 'Rocks' version available for the rear which apparently wears pretty quickly?). Avon Trail Rider are another well thought of road biased option but some sizes tricky to find as they are now out of production. (DItto the slightly more 'off roady' Trek Riders)

Avon Trail Rider are good tyres but are more road biased with good wet and dry grip plus good miles. I had them on a Yamaha S10 so a lot more weight but still performed well cannot compare with other tyres as the only other tyre I had on the bike were "Death Wings" anything would have been better than those even worn out Trail Rider had more grip.
