Hi,
I'm new here.. :clap and feel now that i can be part of the GSers as I yesterday bough an 04 Dakar for my round Africa trip... :beerjug:

The handling though doesnt feel quite right (ive compared it to other dakars i test rode ) and im feeling a bit sad about it :(

A couple of ideas could be:

I know the fork stantions have been replaced aparently due to old ones chipped... Maybe they got bent

or is it the tyres?

I have a Roadrider 90/90 21 54v on the front and Distanzia 130/80 17 65T on the rear. Are these tyres I have both diagonal or radial and are the compatable with each other or do i need to buy some different ones?

Help please

dazzmood welcome to the forum and congrats n the new purchase.

I'll shift your thread over to another section of the forum where I think you'll get the answers to your questions.

Would love to know more about the Africa trip :thumb2

Hope its goes well. :)

Yeh... Going in October. Down the West coast of Africa and and back up the east, then the middle east and back home via east europe. Going with a mate and the purpose, apart from the obvious need for adventure, is to raise money for For romainian street children and a charity that donates cows to villages in Africa.

Really looking forward to it.

Thanks for reposting my quetion btw.:)

It could be tyres, in what way does it not feel right? Have you checked the rear wheel alignment and chain tension?

When I first rode mine with new Karoos fitted it felt as though they'd been put on backwards. Nothing wrong with them, but they were just completely different to the Anakees fitted previously.

If you're worried your bike is not straight then I'm just over the border if you want to compare them next to each other.

Ahh Cheers for that. Should meet up for ride anyway.
I have worked on it and have decided that it is the head berings. Oh bother. I'm going to have a go at it myself but understand I need a special tool for the job. Is that right? I also looking for what could be a decent head bering upgade considering im going to take the bike around africa. Any advise would be great

Actually you not far away at all:)

Let me know when you get it sorted, you can try it out on some local lanes! If you haven't already, get yourself over to f650.co.uk and f650.com - both are a font of wisdom for the bike. :thumb2
