tyres..tyres..tyres..any opinions welcome

have to get new tyres and looking for more road biased tyres now that summer is nearly over. due to 19" front, there are not many options around. i have had the tourances and trail attacks. what are your thoughts on the following tyres:
Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart
Bridgestone BT021 Front BT023 Rear
Pirelli SCORPION SYNC
Michelin Pilot Road
ContiRoadAttack
any other tyre choices would be welcome..

Michelin Pilot Road 2's are a very good tyre for both wear and grip.

had conti road attacks and they were fine but not as good in the wet as the tourances. I don't think any of the road based tyres are. I would have thought your going the wrong way, smooth and sticky in the summer and dual purpose in the winter for all the rain.

Im asking for tyre recommendations aswell on another thread - but for a different bike.

I have conti road attacks on presently (they were on when I bought the bike) and Ive never liked em. No feedback, vague in the wet and theyre starting to misshape now (more so the front).

Just my opinion of course.

I have used all of the above over the last few years, although the Bridgestone was the 020.
IMHO all of those listed are pretty good tyres, I'm currently using the Dunlop roadsmarts on my Tiger 1050, and Conti roadattacks on my Stelvio. I'm happy on both wet or dry, but I think the dunlops may be wearing slightly better than the Contis.

I've just gone from knackered Heidi K60's, seriously squared and almost bald on the rear, to Roadsmarts.

They feel fantastic and appealed because of the claimed good wet grip. Dual compound I believe so should last well.

Track day soon so I'll see how they do compared with the Tourance I used on the previous days.

Just go for the one that you "feel" it's the right choice....

Have to say IMHO that I cant see past the Metzler Tourance EXPs I think their dry grip is fantastic and cope well in wet. They also suit the bike with bold tread pattern.

I think they're flighty - nervous. Great grip but for me not confidence-inspiring at speed, a disappointment. Having said that I've learnt to live with them and my GS1150-riding neighbour says it sounds like just the sort of tyre he likes. Will explore road tyres or go back to old-style Tourance.

Dunlop roadsmarts? seem to be liked by some.

I am trying Pirelli Sport Demon on the 650gs which will be interesting when I get the bike back after MOT.

Just gone from metzler karoo T's to dunlop roadsmarts. Dear god what amazing tyres, to say they inspire confidence is something of an understatement. I may end up having to buy a new set of footpegs at this rate.

I had a set of Bridgestone 020s on my last 1200GS - loved them to bits - suited my riding - turned in smoothly, gripped well beyond my personal commitment level and lasted reasonably well. Very confidence inspiring, especially in the wet.

Have recently put a set of 021s on my RT which, compared to the Michelins that were on before have again massively increased my confidence in the grip of the bike.

So, for me, Bridgestone works well.

my bike came originally with Tourances on, they were brilliant, I can't get new one locally so now have Bridgestone battle winds, they two are great, I think the GS's handle pretty well with anything on.

After Anakee, Battlewing, Tourance, Trail Attack, Tourance EXP I only recently decided to go for all road tyres. Should have done this earlier . Roadsmart (now 8000km in wet and dry, on holiday temps from icy 0°C to sunny 36°C) is baffling compaired to mentioned tyres. So much more grip in all circumstances ! Will not be going back to 'trail' tyres, that's for sure.

Agreed pilot road 2s are the best ,had them on my k1200r but they dont do a sized tyer for the GS front,rear only

I've never got even close to the limits of grip on a GS/GSA, whatever tyres I have used (unlike a crotch-rocket).

Must be something wrong with my riding style I guess.
